Jim has been an investor or investment advisor in healthcare throughout his career. He has served on many boards of directors, including the Chair role in both public and private companies. His particular strengths at Tullis Health are in deal generation, corporate strategy, corporate governance, management selection and recruitment, investment valuation and deal liquidity, and distribution.
Prior to establishing Tullis Health, Jim worked in investment research, investment management, and investment banking—all in the healthcare field. He began his career at Putnam Funds, then joined Morgan Stanley, where he received many accolades. He was recognized by Institutional Investor 14 times on their All-Star list, twice named Wall Street’s #1 Drug Analyst, and selected as a leading “home run hitter.” He was featured on the PBS television program Wall Street Week and authored Wall Street’s first defining report on biotechnology.
He currently sits on the boards of Alphatec (Nasdaq: ATEC), Crane NXT, and the Edward P. Evans Foundation, and chairs the boards at Crane Corporation (NYSE: CR) and the Lord Abbett family of mutual funds.
Jim is a graduate of Stanford University (BA) and holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Harvard.
