Patrick S. Miles has served as chairman and chief executive officer of Alphatec Holdings (Nasdaq: ATEC) since October 2017 and has over 30 years of experience in the orthopedic industry. Before joining ATEC, Pat served in many roles at NuVasive, beginning prior to commercialization through $1B in sales. His roles included vice chairman, COO and president of NuVasive, a role in which he was responsible for enhancing the company’s strategic plans for the future of spine surgery and supporting technology development. Prior to that, Pat served as director of marketing for medical device company ORATEC Interventions, Inc.; director of marketing for minimally invasive systems and cervical spine systems for Medtronic Sofamor Danek; and held several sales and marketing positions with Smith & Nephew.

Pat’s involvement with Tullis began when ATEC acquired Tullis portfolio company SafeOp Surgical in March 2018. He worked closely with Jim Tullis, who served on ATEC’s board of directors for six years following the SafeOp acquisition. Pat joined the Tullis advisory board in November 2025 and also serves as a venture partner. He brings a wealth of operating experience, including very successful leadership of larger organizations; development of new technologies and surgical approaches into hundreds of millions of dollars in annual revenue; and focused, creative, and highly effective marketing themes and campaigns. Pat has a talent for identifying, acquiring and leveraging impactful technology innovations, a skill he has applied with great success at SafeOp and is employing now with EOS Imaging and ATEC’s robotics platform. As Jim Tullis says, “Pat skates where the puck is going, not from whence it came.”

Pat received a BS in Finance from Mercer University.
